Why I’m in Love With the PIUPU True Self Realm Series

Some blind-box series are cute, some are clever, and then there are the ones that immediately feel like they were designed specifically to live in your collection. For me, PIUPU’s True Self Realm series is absolutely one of those.

I love this series so much because every character feels like a tiny expression of a different side of ourselves. They’re playful, dreamy, a little quirky and completely full of personality. It doesn’t feel like a lineup where the same character is simply wearing thirteen different outfits. Each design has its own mood, energy and little story.

The Secret With the Star Sunglasses Has My Heart

Can we please talk about the secret?

The star-sunglasses character is everything I want from a secret design. She looks joyful, confident and completely ready to be the center of attention. The oversized pink star glasses, blue outfit and tiny wings make her feel extra special without losing the sweetness that ties the whole collection together.

She has such happy, main-character energy. Out of all the designs, she is the one who immediately makes me smile—and yes, she is absolutely the one I would be hoping to pull every time I opened a box.

Every Character Feels Like a Different Little Personality

One of my favorite things about this series is how varied the lineup feels. There are soft angelic girls, playful colorful characters, sweet bows, tiny wings, whimsical hats and even a darker mushroom-inspired design.

I especially love the contrast between the pastel characters and the black mushroom girl with her white braids, spotted cap, black dress and red details. She brings a moodier energy to the collection while still fitting perfectly into the same world.

Then there are the tiny details: the braids, bows, flowers, animal-inspired accessories, layered outfits and all the different expressions. Some characters feel shy and gentle, while others look mischievous, confident or ready for an adventure.

That is what makes a full lineup so tempting. I can choose favorites, but I don’t look at any of them and think they don’t belong. They feel like a complete little family.

Why This Series Feels So Special to Me

I’m always drawn to collectibles that have emotion behind them. I love cute designs, of course, but I love them even more when they make me imagine a personality or a story.

The idea of a “true self” or “inner self” feels perfect for a blind-box collection. We all have different sides of ourselves—the dreamy side, the bold side, the shy side, the weird side, the fashionable side and the side that wants to put on giant star sunglasses and be the main character for the day.

This series turns those feelings into tiny characters, and I think that is such a sweet concept.

It also feels a little nostalgic to me. The designs remind me of the joy of choosing a favorite character as a kid, except now I get to appreciate all the artistry, styling and tiny details as an adult collector.

The Kind of Collection I Want to Display Together

Some blind-box series are easy to separate. You pull one or two favorites, display them on their own and feel satisfied.

This is not one of those series for me.

The more PIUPU characters I see together, the cuter they become. The colors balance one another, the personalities start interacting and the whole collection turns into its own tiny world. I can imagine them arranged together on a pastel shelf with miniature props, little stars, clouds and blind boxes surrounding them.

That is dangerous for a collector like me because suddenly I’m not thinking about one character—I’m thinking about the entire lineup.

PIUPU Has Officially Become One of My Favorites

I love when a series surprises me and makes me feel excited about collecting all over again. PIUPU’s True Self Realm series does exactly that.

It is cute without feeling generic, detailed without becoming too busy and emotional without taking itself too seriously. Every character has something memorable about her, and the secret is genuinely worthy of being the chase.

I could stare at this lineup forever, pick a new favorite every few minutes and still come back to those star sunglasses.
